Welcome!
St. Mary's Church is the Church of England Parish Church of Haxby. It is part of the United Benefice of Haxby and Wigginton. For our sister church of St. Nicholas, Wigginton, please go to the relevant 'A Church Near You' page. You can also find out more details about both churches by clicking on the link to the Benefice website on the home page.
The Benefice is situated some 4 miles (6.4 km) north of the ancient city of York, England, and our parishes serve a population of around 13,000 people. We are part of the Church of England deanery of York, within the diocese of York. Our bishop is the Archbishop of York.
United in our mission the two parishes of Haxby and Wigginton also rejoice in being individual and distinctive in what each has offer as churches.
We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds to come and worship with us, to journey with us and join us in our mission, or simply come along and see what we have to offer. Children and Young People are very welcome and there is provision for them every Sunday.
Services this week: for services this week follow the link on the menu.
Regular services: At St. Mary's the celebration of Holy Communion is fundamental to our spirituality and each Sunday we offer a said Communion Service at 8.00 a.m. and a Sung Eucharist for All Ages at 10.15 a.m. There is also a Holy Communion Service each Wednesday at 10.00 a.m. On Sunday evenings we hold a service of sung Evening Prayer (Evensong) at 6.30 p.m., though occasionally this may be replaced by a special service - see the 'Services and events' page or our website for more details.
Exploring faith: we offer opportunities throughout the year to explore faith, through various courses and events: see the 'Services and events' page for more details.
Baptisms and Weddings: If you want to make further enquiries about baptisms (christenings) or getting married at St. Mary's follow the link on the 'Get in touch' page.
The churches in the Benefice lie at the heart of the local community and they host wide-ranging events and groups in their halls, which are available for hire.
You are welcome to come along to our worship and activities, to join with us in our mission, or to explore and deepen your faith. We look forward to meeting you.
